I grew up as the oldest of six children, which was about as chaotic as it sounds. It definitely gave me a healthy sense of humor. We lived all over the place—in places ranging from Mesa, Arizona to Apia, Samoa—although the Salt Lake City area was home for the longest and most recent stretch. Right now I'm living in San Francisco and learning to like walking uphill to everything.

I completed a BA in linguistics at the University of Utah, and spent several years working as a freelance writer.

In the past few years I've bounced from a Silicon Valley startup to a very small, very quirky nonprofit, where I'm currently telling stories and raising money.

I can play chess, the didgeridoo, and the devil's advocate; I speak English, Spanish, and enough Klingon to establish my Trekkie street cred. I love to travel and hope to someday visit every continent. Also, if you got here via a Google search:

Yes, this is me. (If you're curious, here's a recap of the game.)

I've been writing in a variety of formats and genres for more than a decade. Although I've dabbled in everything from sonnets to screenplays, novels are my first love. You can learn a little bit about my current project or see some of my published work here if you'd like.

If you want to reach me, I'm available at jenicajessen(at)outlook.com. If you don't want to reach me, I'm still available there, although I'm not entirely sure why you care. You can also fill out the form on my Contact page.
